Posted in Articles

Louis Vuitton has made the oh-so-great decision to team up with Marc Jacobs and renowned artist Yayoi Kusama to offer a unique line of clothing and accessories for the Parisian brand.

Being in her eighties has not meant that Japanese artist Yayoi is planning on slowing down any time soon. On the contrary, she’s very much embracing her new venture and looking forward to working with Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton; “Mr Jacobs is very talented and I respect him as a designer and a human being, so I was happy to collaborate… I want to show people the beauty of the universe, and the line allows me to reach the very wide LV audience.”

Well, we must say, she is not the only one to be excited about this collaboration. It’ the biggest partnership that Louis Vuitton have ever embarked upon and will see Kusama’s trademark polka dots (inspired by the Japanese flag) projected on to some of Louis Vuitton’s most coveted models, such as The Speedy, The Lock-It and The Keepall bags. There will also be designs which incorporate Kusama’s ‘nerve’ motif which have a hint of ‘hallucination’ to them and these will go on display in the Bond Steet Maison throughout July, along with life size casts of Yayoi. Selfridges will also be devoting not one, not two, but all of its windows to the collaboration throughout August, where there will be a pop-up shop inside the department store.

In summary, the message of the Yayoi’s work is simply but effectively; “Love forever”. We think we will!

As you know, we love our Topshop clothes and are always impressed with their collaborations. Their latest decision has been to partner with fab brand ‘Reclaim To Wear’ to create an ‘upcycled’ capsule collection made entirely from excess material such as off-cuts, discarded cloth and unused stock – genius!

Reclaim To Wear was first started in 1997 by Orsola de Castro and Filippo Riccis as a way to design beautiful clothes without waste and we just know Topshop won’t disappoint with this collaboration – there will be a multi-fabric tiered blouse along with a block colour maxi dress in addition to many more on-trend pieces which will be sold via the Topshop website as of 15th June!

Louise has reportedly designed a range of make-up, including fluorescent eye colours and glitter pots as well as a fashion collection in line with her signature styles; “My idea behind the collaboration was to design for the Topshop girl a range that was young and fun, similar to both the fashion and make up I wear already. My mainline collections have always been about pushing optimism, colour and fun, I want her to experiment with the product, be daring and have fun with it.”

Well, we’re quite taken aback with this announcement and can’t wait until August, when the collection debuts!

We know we know… STRUCTURE reported on the Marni for H&M collection last week but we just had to tell you all about H&M’s latest collab with Katherine Hamnett.

In celebration of Climate Week, Fashion Designer Hamnett has designed one of her famous slogan tees for the high street store.

In a bid to raise as much money possible for the environmental cause, H&M will donate all proceeds of the t-shirt to the Environmental Justice Foundation.

Made entirely from organic cotton, the t-shirts are produced from using only renewable energy and read with the slogan ‘Save the Future’.

Katherine, a known political activist, has already got the likes of Roisin Murphy and The Vaccines to wear her t-shirts and as of today, you can get your hands on one too!

H&M have also partnered with the British Red Cross to offer a recycling facility in selected stores nationwide, so when you pop in to get your t-shirt, why not donate an old one?!

Today was the great unveiling of the Marni for H&M collection and in terms of popularity, it’s more than exceeded its expectations.

Last night, hundreds of happy campers spent the night out on the cold pavements of central London, all waiting to get a look into the H&M Oxford Street and Regent Street stores.

Taking charge of the situation, H&M doled out coloured wristbands to the first 250 visitors, who were limited to a strict 10 minute time slot.

Just minutes after the 9.00am opening, some of the Marni for H&M key pieces had already sold out with items such as the print maxi and resin bangles proving two of the most popular.

H&M are no stranger to the chaos of teaming with a prestigious designer but on this occasion, the chaotic shoppers proved to be not teen fashionistas as there were for their Versace collaboration, but more mature professionals, queuing up with cups of coffee!

Consuelo Castiglioni, the designer behind Marni, reflected on the launch that; “’everything has the same level of quality, craft and attention to detail Marni’s known for.” The difference is, in teaming with a high street brand like H&M, you can now purchase a whole outfit for the cost of a one-off Marni original!

So popular was the collection on just their first day, the H&M website experienced a crash which lasted two hours! When the site finally regained composure, just a mere selection of items were left for unimpressed online shoppers. All in a day’s work eh!
